Privacy for the rental-unit check
How your property entry and saved browser check are handled.
What the free check uses
The check uses the address you enter, the property you select, your advertised count and scope answers. The address or OPA identifier is sent to the City’s data service to retrieve matching public records. Your advertised count is used for the comparison.
The free flow requires no name, email, account or payment. Do not enter tenant names, personal circumstances or private document text in the address field.
Returning to your check
An essential, secure browser cookie lets the service recognize your saved check. It contains an opaque random value, not the address or result. Browser access expires within 24 hours and may end sooner if the underlying evidence expires. Someone using the same browser may be able to reopen it.
The entered address and count are also kept in this tab’s session storage so back navigation does not erase them. The entry expires after 24 hours; closing the tab or clearing site data removes that browser copy. Blocking browser storage may limit this recovery.
Expired checks are unavailable to the browser and are eligible for routine deletion. Access expiry is not a promise that every operational backup is erased at that instant.
Where data goes
Cloudflare serves the web interface and Azure hosts the API and database. These providers process connection information needed to serve requests. The free checker does not send your address, advertised count or evidence to an AI model, advertising service or session-replay tool.
Property details stay out of checker URLs. Copying the page address does not grant someone else access to your check. Source links open the public City source; the receiving site handles that visit under its own policy.
Private work and support
Private document work and purchases use an account with Clerk. Current upload and purchase availability is shown in the checker and workspace. Sign-in is not needed for a free check.
For privacy questions or a deletion request, contact reports@informed.properties. We may need enough information to locate your record and confirm the request. Do not email payment credentials or sensitive tenant documents.
Optional product measurement
When enabled, first-party measurement counts page visits, check attempts, source outcomes and evidence opens. If measurement is on when you create a private draft, we can link its document checks, offer eligibility, checkout, confirmed payment and report delivery to that session. You can optionally tell us whether you are a buyer, tenant or doing a general lookup. It uses random identifiers and fixed categories. Measurement records contain no addresses, parcel identifiers, names, document text, raw search terms, full referring URLs, card or bank details, or sign-in tokens.
A random session identifier in this tab’s storage is reused for up to 24 hours. We use the referring site and the presence of campaign markers only to choose an acquisition category; their full values are not sent to the collector. No analytics cookie is set. Blocking storage leaves measurement in memory for the page.
Measurement records expire 90 days after the session is first recorded. Expired records are excluded from reports and removed by routine cleanup. Backups follow their own expiry schedule. These counts describe recorded sessions, not unique people.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track turn this collection off. You can also use the preference below. Turning measurement off stops new collection and requests removal of the current tab’s recorded measurement, including its optional purchase attribution. Open tabs apply the preference when they receive it.
If removal fails, we retry when you return. Clearing browser storage first can prevent that retry. Older sessions no longer present in browser storage remain subject to the 90-day limit. Saved checks, orders and required payment records have their own retention rules.
Optional product measurement is currently off.
